Re: [APML] Huge periodic error

Are you experienced at manually guiding your telescope?
Do you see this huge error when you manually guide?

<< After many months trying to do prime focus photography without success,
I've
discovered the reason: a huge periodic error that fails ST4 to track
correctly.
 My instrument is a Meade 2080 Schmidt-Cassegrain 8". I've tried to measure
the
periodic error with the ST4 at the f/10 focus (4 arcmin field) but after
about
20 seconds the star go out of the field! So I can only think that the PE
would
be of about 10-20 arcmin (not arcsec!!) with a period of 8 minutes. Now it's
obvious the reason I cannot do prime focus photos! :-( >>
