Re: [APML] pentium vs athlon

hello:

both have passed all compatability tests for windows and unix. the only
difference is motherboard architicure, chipset and price. the athlon at equal
or near equal speeds (performance) is going to be cheaper. with or without
3dnow support, the pentium will usually edge out the athlon, but it's up to you
if you want to pay the pentium premium. there is a new chipset out fot the
athlon by via that supports agp 4x. one board is the asus k7v. i haven't seen
any benchmark tests with the athlon and agp4x, but i don't see it making a whole
lot of difference. i have the piii 700 (clocked to 721mHz) and a friend has an
athlon 750. i'm happy with mine and he's happy with his. all peripherals will
work with either cpu. he does a lot of digital imaging as i do and they seem
pretty equal. just don't skimp on the video board. either one will do the job.
