[ from s.a.a., A. Domonkos ], Monday
Last Thursday evening I photographed the aurora from my suburban skies
here north of Baltimore. Camera used was a Kodak DC260 1.6 megapixel
digital camera mounted on a tripod . I took 3 wide angle exposures
(approx 40mm) 10 seconds long each, and one dark frame for reference
(digital cameras at ambient temperatures have plenty of dark current
noise). Using Photoshop I subtracted the dark frame from each exposure
and stacked the 3 images and applied the de-pixel filter for the final
image. Next time I'm keeping my 35mm camera ready, I got caught off
guard with this one, but a nice surprise either way.
