Re: [APML] How to Mount a 300 f/2.8 telephoto on a Vixen GP-Mount

Hi Torben:
You have already received some good advice but for what it's worth here's my
experience. I have a different mount (Losmandy G-11) but the principle is
the same: use a side-by-side plate and on the camera side, mount two rings
of the sort used for guide and finder scopes. I got a pair of big rings (5.5
inches) because I wanted to be able to mount a variety of different things.
With two rings, I can completely immobilize any size camera lens (for
example, a 300 mm Pentax f4 with a Pentax II body hanging on it. The camera,
being lighter than the lens, doesn't require any support when the lens is
fixed this way. The ring screws permit easy adjustment of the pointing of
the camera (not as easy as a tripod head of course) as well.
Hope this helps--
Bert
